What AhemUI handles
When you capture feedback, AhemUI records a screenshot of the area you highlighted, the text you type, and details about the page: its address, the element and source file, styles, recent console errors and failed requests, and the clicks that led there.
Where it goes
- To
ahemui serve, a small server running on your own computer (127.0.0.1), which writes it into the.ahemui/folder of your project. From there it's shared only if you commit and push it. - To your coding agent, when it reads the backlog. It reads captures like the rest of your code, and what it sends to its provider is handled under that provider's terms (Anthropic's, for Claude Code), not by AhemUI.
- To your issue tracker (Linear, Jira, Notion, GitHub), only if you ask your agent to sync, through the connection you set up yourself.
The AhemUI tools send nothing anywhere. They have no servers of their own, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Nothing is sold or shared.
The browser extension
- It asks Chrome for access to all sites, so Chrome shows a warning when you install it. It runs on local development sites, and on any other site only after you switch it on for that site. It only talks to the AhemUI server on your own computer.
- It takes a screenshot of the visible tab only when you capture feedback.
- On deployed sites, password fields, anything marked private, email addresses, long numbers and URL query strings are masked or removed before anything leaves the page.
- It stores your per-site project choices and settings in the browser's extension storage.
Settings
Your personal settings (toolbar corner, notifications and so on) are saved in ~/.ahemui/prefs.json on your computer.
This website
ahemui.com counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, doesn't build a profile of you and doesn't follow you across other sites: it records the page, the referring site, and your browser and country, aggregated. The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. None of this involves the AhemUI tools, which send nothing anywhere.
